Hi Chris are you sure it is paired still ? It does have a quite specific pairing procedure that has confused many people. Check the tips at the top of this page for a review of that process.

This sounds like a fault to me, if anyone has returned them for confirmation of this please share your findings!

Ok .. I had the same problem as described above. Charged them for hours but as soon as I removed them from charger they played dead.
Tried and tried again.
What I did to get them to work again ..I took the opposite side of the volume control And slapped it across the table. Literally. I figured what the hell , it's a total loss anyway right? Well to my surprise it actually worked .they come on fine once again.

Same boat; worked for exactly one day, then a bunch of nothing. I've spent more time troubleshooting then I was able to listen.

Holy crap, I read Vivian's response about smacking the side of the Bluetooth without the volume control on my table, and sure enough it went from a blue light when charging to red! ing crazy.

I only smacked it once solidly, and I'm honestly amazed it worked. drunkenpower
Saugat responded : 2017-05-16 18:46:18 (2 years ago)
Mine did not charge too. I tried many different things but to my suprise i tried viviens method and it worked ! Don't know whats faulty inside though !!
Jay responded : 2017-05-25 03:23:03 (2 years ago)
Mine did the same thing. Charged it and it wouldn't turn on listening for the tone through the earpiece. So I did what Vivien suggested, held it a bit below the volume control and slapped the backside of it against my desk. After three tries it started working again. Doesn't give me great faith in this product. Finding a good set of bluetooth earbuds is so hit and miss.
Admin responded : 2017-05-25 03:23:47 (2 years ago)
More hit than miss in this case Jay!

Hard with scissor handles.

Use them for a month. Perfect. Today. Wouldn't work with factory charger. Another charger got it to light up red. Then blue...
Come to find out they only work on the charger. Wont pair when I take them off. Spent 79$ new.
I thought these would have lasted longer. So pissed. Why wony they they stay on off the charger
James James responded : 2017-06-21 23:43:35 (2 years ago)
Paul - how strange, exactly the same situation here. Had them for a month worked fine, now as of today dead off the charger and have the blue light while plugged up. Junk.
Deib responded : 2017-06-23 03:20:58 (2 years ago)
I smacked the opposite of the volume control for about 10x already and surprisingly, it still doesn't work :

I experienced the same issue, and decided that perhaps a hard reset was in order. I couldn't find info. anywhere on how to go about this, so used the same method as the FitBit for a hard reset.
1. Plug in to charge.
2. Hold down the power button for approximately 10 seconds.
3. Then there was a flashing red and blue light, which allowed me to pair the device.

Don't know if this pure luck or actual procedure, but sure beat SMACKING the device and risking breakage.

Let me know if this works for anyone else.
Alex responded : 2017-07-16 04:48:33 (2 years ago)
none of these solutions have worked for me. I tried a hard reset, leaving it alone for 24 hours, pressing all the buttons for long periods of time, and even hitting it against a table like others suggested this was my last resort. they still do not turn on, no lights, nothing. anyone else have any other solutions? I feel like I've tried them all.
John Leo responded : 2017-07-17 03:49:26 (2 years ago)

Hi. I just tried Vivien's approach of hitting my headphones on the table hit the battery and control unit and they have come back to life. These are a totally different brand Urbanista Boston and this technique seems to be foolproof. Honestly not trolling. Annoyed though as have already ordered and received a new pair.
Lebronsucks responded : 2017-07-27 09:57:17 (2 years ago)

Just maybe

Same thing happened to my first pair, I couldn't find a solution so I contacted SkullCandy for my replacement. Come to find out, the same thing JUST happened to my replacement pair yesterday! I was working out & listening to music when it started disconnecting on its own, I got home & put them on the charger and all I got was a blue & red blinking light and the a solid red light, they have not turned on since then, not even when plugged in. I tried the smacking them.. did not work lol.
ajtheman responded : 2017-08-21 17:02:13 (2 years ago)
It might be water damage. If you used these headphones while you workout or outside where you sweat that might be the problem. I found out that it is very easy for liquid to fall inside the areas where the control and the opposite side that everyone says to smack on a table. A better method is to put them in rice. When I smacked the headset I notice a little water coming out of the cracks around that area. Another solution if that is not it is to try a hard reset. Which you will plug the headset into the charger hold all three buttons -, the power, and the + button for 30 seconds, unplug and then try turning on again.
Rasta responded : 2017-09-02 13:44:31 (2 years ago)
I do t have skull candy but read the responses about beating my headset. After a few good licks they started charging again. I guess my headphones just wanted a good spanking lol.
Brandon Oliver responded : 2017-09-04 06:50:04 (2 years ago)
Same thing happened with mine. Worked a few days then nothing. No lights, nothing. Tried hard luck..... Tried beating the shit out of luck.....I am so irritated. Why the hell would sweat mess them up? Doesnt the company design a product and are able to assume that the headphones will likely be worn by a jogger or two who will in fact sweat with them on? 50 dollar headphones that work a few days then time to buy another pair.......BS man...

Yeah I have my Blu tooth Ink wireless Skullcandy earphone's I try charging it. It's red for a few seconds and turns Blu right away I unplug it an it won't turn on getting me really irritated. I try to rest it nothing. Tried pulling it into a computer does the same thing red for a few seconds an turns blue right away. Tried different connectors an adapter does the same thing.

Had the same issue, and ended up here where I saw vivian's tip and the responses to it. I thought to myself fck it I might as well try it, so spent a full evening bashing the damn thing on my desk, on the wall, even got my trusty baseball bat out to try and bash it to no avail. I'd given up on it, and put the jack back in to go to work this morning. Funny thing is, arriving at work, I accidentally ran into a pillar and heard a small click from the headset, I tried it again, and oh wonders, it just turned back on and paired as if nothing had happened. I have no explanation why, but it does work. As for how hard to hit it, I have no idea, but that hit on the pillar was definitely weaker than the pounding with the bat. So my advice would be, just keep at it and have faith.

I'm on my fifth pair of Ink'd Wireless earbuds and they all fail eventually. I can even predict how long they will last: three months. They work great for three months, then suddenly stop working. I charge them, but the blue light won't come on unless it is plugged into an outlet. What good are wireless earbuds if you can't use them wirelessly? I keep my box and receipt and send off for a new pair every time because, what else am I going to do? I hate working out without music and hate working out with a traditional set of earbuds. SkullCandy: Please fix the bugs in these earbuds!!

Same type of issue... Worked fine when plugged in, but immediately shut off after unplugging it. So I tried the pounding and noticed liquid coming out of the side opposite from the volume control. Perhaps that's why pounding it seems to work, gets the moisture out... I put it a bag of rice to dry out and see if this less hostile method works as well.

Good to see that you guys are getting success. Unfortunately my one pairs and connects to my phone for a day playing audio fine, but after that it goes completely silent. I've tried other bluetooth headphones with my phone, and other phones with my Ink'd Wireless, but after almost two months I still don't know which one is the culprit. I've tried the hitting and resetting but no luck :(

So my hesh 2 stopped turning on for no reason. they were working fine yesterday but now they wont turn on no matter how long I hold the power button or wack it against a wall. The charging light still turns on when plugged in but they won't turn on no matter what I do. anyone have any ideas on what to do?
anonymous responded : 2018-05-14 21:23:36 (10 months ago)
I too experienced the problem in which I could not turn on my Ink'd Wireless. I held the power button for up to a minute. Tried charging them with various cables, and even tried pressing a combination of the +, -, and power button. I read Vivien's answer and I tried it out and my headphones are now charging. All I did was take the part where the battery charges and smacked it against my desk (short distance, moderate force). I would say give it a try, just don't hit them too hard. One smack did the trick.

Has anyone tried smacking a Method Wireless? I already replaced my Method Wireless Earbuds via SkullCandy warranty AND Cut Cord warranty 8 times!!!! The Method Wireless has the same problems as the Ink'd and I'm wondering if anyone smacked a method wireless yet. These were supposed to be sweat proof

Thanks. Jon

This might be late, but this is the permanent solution which was instructed by skullcandy.
It sounds like you may have inadvertently placed your device in programming mode, rendering your device unusable. Never fear, you can follow the steps below to get your device out of programming mode.
- Please unplug your device from everything for a FULL 24 hours (very important to leave it unplugged for the FULL 24 hours or it will not work and you will have to wait again).
- Press and hold all 3 buttons for 30-45 seconds
- Plug the device into a computer with internet enabled
- Allow it to be charged by the computer (10-15 minutes)
- Your device should be out of programming mode. (should show the LED is lit up and the device should power on while on the charger)
- Re-pair your device (test the device to make sure it works successfully while being plugged in)
- While still playing music, unplug the unit, if it continues to play you're golden.
- If it stops playing immediately then you likely have a bad battery

I tried a combination of things for my Hesh 3 by Skull Candy. btw, this set was a warranty replacement because the previous ones started breaking apart. But I digress...

I started by using the two-way audio cable, so I'm not sure if that made a difference. I was able to use them, but no power yet. Tried Ryann's method which worked, but when I unplugged them this time, I actually heard Power Off, which I didn't hear the first time. My guess is that they drained completely before it had a chance to tell me the battery was low, so that backs up Rocco's comment.

All: Thanks for your input, but this is way too complicated for a simple set of wireless earbuds. We should not have to work this hard to have a product work the way its supposed to work. I've lost count already of the number of times I've mailed these buds back for a new pair. They all, without exception, stop working suddenly after a month or so. Skullcandy needs to do something about this and start producing a higher quality product. End of story. Punto final.
