Hello, i have sb2 wireless and after the battery went dead i charged it fully and could not turn them on. I kept searching for answers but to no avail. on a whim i plugged them back into the charger and tried to turn them on and they seemed to unlock themselves. Give that a try and hope it helps!!!!

My earbuds do the same exact thing and they have a little blue light when you plug them in as if they were already charged they weren't hat expensive of earbuds but it is still annoying to have to go and buy new stuff.

Admin responded : 7:46pm, 30th May 2017 (3 years ago)
To clarify, holding both volume buttons together, does that result in a red and blue flashing light sequence? That should reset Bluetooth on them.

Trentin Williams responded : 11:07pm, 5th June 2017 (3 years ago)
Ok guys so I bought my sb2 headset and had them one day the next day I plugged them up to charge after getting them off the charger they wouldnt turn on. I saw these posts and none of them helped so after messing around with it enough it worked for me to plug them in but I recommend using the cable that came with the set or one that will go into the set until you hear a sharp click. Your light should turn red and itll charge or turn on. Hope this helps guys

Got them as birthday present for mowing my lawn because my iPhone 6S headphone jack is bad. I charged them for a full day, when plugged in they pair up just fine, when taken off charger, DEAD.
Returning to store, buying another brand. Not worth the frustration!

Ana Irene responded : 4:15am, 15th June 2017 (3 years ago)
Hello good afternoon my name is Ana, a few months ago my uncle gave me as a gift a Skullcandy smokin buds 2. He gave it without the box so when I got them i did not know go to used them or anything. The earphones itself by the name of the brand I search on the Internet on how to used them and how they work. So I learned how to turned them on and of and etc. They worked about 2-3 weeks, after that one day I charged it as always and once I tried to turn them on to used them, they won't turn on or it doesn't show the blue light. So every time I tried to fixed them by trying them to turn on. I connect them thinking maybe they need more battery but less than five minutes the blue light appears that's already fully charged. That happens everytime, so I know that that's not where the problem is, the problem is when I tried the buttons to turn it on and there is no sign of that.

I've got the same issue.
Headphones turned off by themselves 2 days ago.
The headphones indicate a full charge when plugged in to the charger. However the power button doesn't turn them on.

Peshway responded : 1:49am, 27th June 2017 (3 years ago)
Hey guys, this happened to me while running; the SB2 just turned off with no warning beep, and wouldn't connect to my phone via bluetooth. Anyways, after a week of following online tips and instructions, nothing worked. Then a few days after I gave up I plugged them in and it automatically connected while plugged in. It's not supposed to work while plugged in. So nowadays I just charge it, and when I'm ready to use it I just plug them in and hold down the power button. The buttons only seem to work when it is plugged in. Sometimes very rarely it will work like normal, as in you turn it on and use it like you had when you first bought it. Then it goes awol randomly, but the plug in trick works for me.

Same issue exactly....however tried all of the above and none worked for me.....the only time I see any lights is when they are on charge, red briefly as of course they are holding a full charge and then blue, they will not power on either connected or disconnected from the USB lead.....contacted Skullcandy direct by e-mail, who knows, maybe they can help

Well there you go, a response to the - why or even how does it happen

Hi Bill,
to be honest, we are also a bit unsure how this happens, mostly it's an accidental combination of pressing the buttons, sometimes it's just a little hiccup with the headphones themselves.
Kind regards,
Skullcandy Customer Experience

Thanks for sharing Bill !

Bill responded : 7:03am, 5th July 2017 (3 years ago)
OK guys......left it around 40 hours or so and tried what Sabine told me to did not work.....luckily before I attached the headphones I had the presence of mind to start Device Manager so I could see if they were recognised and also to start a screen capture tool so that I could record what happened......initially the PC recognised the headphones shown in the device manager window but then device manager reported a problem and they were no longer recognised....the screen captures have been sent to Sabine at Skullcandy and I now await her response......headphones still remain dead!

Bill responded : 7:23am, 5th July 2017 (3 years ago)

Because I was so frustrated I tried messing around a bit......firstly I used a different USB port on my PC and a different lead......I went through the same loop and got the same results, however I tried inserting and then pulling the lead out very close together and I got the blue and red LED's flashing alternately.....I seem to remember that this is the sign for trying to pair so I quickly turned on the Bluetooth on my phone and initiated pairing.....I couldn't believe my eyes, my headphones appeared and they are now working again!!!!!......I have let Sabine know and also said I hope it doesn't happen again!!!....Please anyone who has the same issue try what I did and let us all know if it worked

Bill responded : 7:37am, 5th July 2017 (3 years ago)

Cancel that guys........although I have got the headphones to pair and they are playing my music from my phone right now......they still don't really work as the control button bar doesn't do anything at volume up or down.....and now ironically I can't even turn them off!!!!......I have reported this to Sabine at Skullcandy to see if she can give anymore advice

Sorry for the false hope

Bill responded : 11:06am, 7th July 2017 (3 years ago)
Sorry to have to tell anyone who was building their hopes up that we would solve this......after many many pieces of advice directly from Sabine at Skullcandy she eventually just said they need to be sent no matter what I tried and believe me I think I tried everything they just did not recover from whatever happened to them in the first place.
I have returned them to Skullcandy, using their online returns link however I know I am taking a risk as it does require proof of purchase which I no longer have.....they are useless to me so all I have wasted is the cost of a stamp!.....But still very disappointed.

My advice certainly if you have proof of purchase would be to send them back following the instructions in their link.....

hey guys...i've had this issue with 2 pairs - i got a new pair with their claim process which is BS because you have to send by registered mail which costs half a pair of the damn things anyway. i don't know what they're going to offer but i've tried everything and nothing now works. i will NEVER buy skullcandy products again because i got a bad headset for my daughter and they broke really fast. their products are made cheaply. good branding but BAD products.

Tris responded : 6:44am, 1st August 2017 (3 years ago)
So I was confronted with this same issue yesterday and have tried all the things people have mentioned above to no avail. On a whim, I traveled to another similar thread to this one and some guy said he hit his volume bar on the table and it seemed to come back on. So, I thought what the hell, right? They are going to make me send them back anyway. So I took the back of the volume bar and slammed that puppy hard onto my laptop and low and behold they turned right on. I would definitely try this before anything else. Don't worry about being skeptical about beating on your headphone, from my experience these are a fairly hardy and reliable pair so give it a try even as a last resort.

Bryce responded : 9:27pm, 8th August 2017 (3 years ago)
I literally had the same issues all the way to the volume bar not working. After getting the headphones to connect I took the volume bar and I hit it on the table. Now the headphones work again lol. This is the greatest fix I have ever encountered.

I had the same issue, mine too went off and wouldn't come on too. I tried holding down two buttons at a time and thy didn't work. After reading a number of suggestions here and trying a few I finally hit the volume thing on a hard surface and it came on miraculously. So far it's working with no problems. Thanks Bryce.

I was able to finally getting mine to work after plugging them into a PC as suggested by the post above. I had to try two different leads and a couple of different ports, but after a few tries they finally came back on.

I bought the skullcandy smoking buds 2 in July and have had strange results with them. The first two weeks they would beep just random times. I disconnected and reconnected them Bluetooth and worked fine until a week ago. I was watching GOT and paused the movie for 10 min and left ear phone on. When I went to press play they made the shut off sound and would not come back on for anything. The battery was fully charged being I charged the night before.
Last night I didn't even push pause they just shut off after and hour of working and were fully charged as well. No warning beep like I got the first few weeks of having them when battery was low. They just made the shut off sound and cut off and could not get them to come back on at all. I didn't recharge just left them on table. They came on fine this morning and show fully charged as they were last night. So confused ......

Same issues as all of you, I know for sure this is the last Skullcandy product I will ever own. The last resort is to send them to skullcandy, however I have no proof of purchase. Has anyone sent them back without this before and did they fix them? Thanks

Yen responded : 5:31pm, 4th September 2017 (3 years ago)
Not too sure how many people will be checking in with this, but I've ran into some issues on and off with mine. I've had them for about a year. I used to have the issue of them staying stuck on the blue/red pairing light as they were charging. That itself I feel may have been fixed after I took it off the charger to die. Otherwise, they randomly turned off on me about a week ago. I had left them on the charger for a whole day and they were still showing red indicating still charging. I took them off the charger and put them back on. This went on for a few days and still, no blue light showed, so I pretty much gave up on them. I figured I didn't want to buy any new ones so I'd try it once more since the issues were able to be fixed in the past. This time, I had left them in the COMPUTER to charge and turned them on. The red light went off, as opposed to turning blue. No power sound had been heard. I left them on the charger about 3-5mins longer and did the same thing; still nothing. I then took them off the charger and put them back on the charger for about 3 more mins. This time after holding the power button on, I heard some life through the headphones and also saw the blue/red transition light on the actual device. I turned them off, turned them on while on the charger, and so on until I for sure knew it was working. Boom! They now work like before

TL;DR: Leave them to charge in the computer usb dock. Try multiple times, about 3-5 mins in between each of holding the power button on until the red/blue light shows up

Having the same issue, earbuds just stopped working even though it shows i have a full charge and it will not turn on. I tried everything that was suggested here on this thread to no avail. I saw what tris did and slammed the back of my volume bar onto a table and they are now working for the time being, it took 3 slams.

Ollie Greenacre responded : 9:41am, 26th September 2017 (3 years ago)
Ive had exactly the same issues as described. Im actually vey happy with them apart from this issue. 1st set just stopped working and even though charged, wouldn't connect or come back on. Sent them back to Amazon and got another pair. Had them 3 weeks and the same issue has just re occurred. Now reluctant to get a replacement as its pretty obvious there is a fundamental design floor in theses headphones. Ive tried everything above to no avail.

My SkullCandy earbuds turned off abruptly while running and would not turn back on even after charging. After troubleshooting and trying the suggestions provided on this thread, the only thing that got it to reset was whacking not violently it on my desk repeatedly. They are working again; however, I expect this to happen again. I plan to get a new pair from a different company. Based on what I've read on various boards, this is a common issue with this company, which I think is unacceptable.

For me too. My SkullCandy earbuds turned off abruptly while running after only 6 months of use and it would not turn back on. I've tried the suggestion waiting 24hours, connected it to the computer. After few tries it came back on. I've used once and it went dead again. I would never buy a SkullCandy again. This is ridiculous.

They charge --- red and blue light come on
But ....
They won't turn on and no light comes on

Slammed my headphones (the side with the controls) against my desk, not crazy like and bam !!!
They work
Lights come on
Power on
Power off
Everything works now
Crazy I know

But slam the control side against the wall like an old tv and bam

Ok. So i had the same trouble with my SB2 Headphones few time and its very annoying. Especially when it happens a week after you buy them. Eventually i worked out the way to hard reset. Here are some steps to follow and hopefully this will fix the problem.

1- When headphones won't turn on plug them in to charge there will be red indicator on for charging or blue if fully charged.

2- Press and hold both volume button together and hold until you see red or purple flashes that means system is rebooting.
This will end all existing connection with any devices.

3- While still plugged in make a new connection to connect you headphones to phone or other devices older connection could be used to connect from phone too.

This should fix the problem.

And in some cases you might exprience same problem after you do all steps and turn them off they might not turn on Or you might hear continuous beeping after they are turned on until you play music.

Nothing to worry about.

Follow same steps and leave you headphones connection on and playing music or something for an hour or so I leave them on until they run out of charge and they won't screw up for months after that. This will do the trick. Always fixed mine that way.

I am sure this will help you guys too.

Ali Khan responded : 3:54am, 12th January 2018 (2 years ago)
All the above process doesn't explain why it happens but always work for me. The user above Bill explained problems with control bar. I faced that too. But leaving them on for a while usually does the trick and eventually all buttons start to work.

I have the same problem, but apparently it works the Bills solution with my Skullcandy

My problem is I use then when I practice some routines in the gym, in a moment the showdown because some sweat wet them. They only switch on the red light for 1 minute and immediately off.

Then I put them in some rice like 48 hours to try dry it. Two days later the red led on when I try to charge.

The next step is connect to my computer to try the reset the hardware and it works!!!!

I tried the whole pc thing and the second pair played as long as I had them plugged in to the pc but as soon as I disconnected them there was no sound or lights. The light turns from red to blue, so I know it is not an electrical problem.
Is there anything else I can do?

Before you slam your volume bars or your heads on the table try holding all 3 buttons until the light flashes red/blue.
Hey presto! No more lumps on my head!

Had the same problem. Tried everything on this site. I ended up smashing the headphones after trying every solution you guys had including hooking it up to a PC. I will not be supporting Skullcandy ever again. Such a shame too, the sound was amazing but that doesn't count for much if the device doesn't work.

Same issue with headphones red blue light would come on and go off. took them apart there is a white wire that is pinched were the wire goes from the board to the battery on the other side of headphones, thought for sure that was the issue. Played with that wire still they would not turn on went ahead and plugged them into the pc (I use linux so nothing was seen.) pushed the power button and the volume up button several times and they reset. blue light came on and now they work fine. They are over a year old so No receipt. I am going to repair the white wire and hope for the best. :) The things you do for your kids. Will update with pics.

guys i had to try it a few times but after like the 7th or 8th time it actually worked. slamming your headphones on the volume jack works.

I'm sorta late to the discussion, but I've encountered the same issue with my almost 1 year old bluetooth earbuds. Luckily i still have the manual it came with, and I went through it. turns out we shouldn't leave these devices unused longer than their standby time. My device had a standby time of 220hrs (abt 9 days?) while I left them unused for like 3 months. This sorta comes down to the battery at this point, which might be the case for a few (if not most) users experiencing these issues. Just pointing this out, seems like this is quite a general problem.

I fixed mine - it was the white wire that was pinched when the headphone were built. bought the kid new ones for Christmas of another brand we will see how these hold up. No more skullcandy for this family.

Guys it really works to hit the volume bar against any surface.
I've had the same problem. My skull candy wireless method were working perfectly for 3 months and suddeny today they stopped reproducing music and then they turned off. I couldn't turn them on after that and when i tried to charge em' the LED light was blue and that indicates that they're fully charged. While plugged they could turn on and connect with muy phone, but when i unplugged them...DEAD. Reading the comments above i thought the one suggesting to hit the volume bar was a joke, but i gave it a shot. And OMG it trully worked, they're now charging and working perfectly

Same as Kat here. Definitely wouldn't have bought it if I knew it would stop working two months after.

Wow, there is something terribly ironic about a product called Skull Candy that requires you to hit it over the head in order for it to work!!! After several bows to the controller using different techniques and levels of force, i found the right touch: I used my metal HydroFlask coffee mug with a strong whack on the controller with the buttons side down. Do, do, do dup! Back in business! We'll see how long this lasts, but for now, all is good. I am going to start researching my next set of phones now so i can be ready when these stop working again, and the prehistoric solution no longer works.

I hit them and it does not work. After a long time of anger, I finally found the solution, hit them so hard that I broke them, and now the headphones are in the trash, that was the solution.

I have ironically stumbled onto an alternate method of bashing the volume unit against the wall...This took one decent strike and it made me feel much less concerned that some new problem would occur. I held the earbud against the wrap around part so that the volume unit was the furthest component out. Then I wiped the volume unit against my bed. I did it only once, then put the earbud in my ear and pressed the button....and the magic beep was heard! I dont get it, but it worked. My problem started yesterday while working a few hours outside in a typical Dallas summer - 102 degrees! I was sweating bullets and a few hours later when I was headed out for my workout, they wont even make a beep. I charged them and was 99% ready to just buy a new pair. I googled it and found this string. Good luck!

Slam it HARD and I used a Hair Brush! . I really thought people were trolling, but I spent days on the other techniques and gave up on it ever working so was willing to go hard core. I had tried a few times in earlier days to bang it with my hand against a door jamb or desk - hard enough that it hurt my hand - it was a bit akward to do with the dangling cord and the small surface to hit without hitting your fingers. I didn't want to quite go to a hammer and break it for sure so I tied the wood handle of a pet brush. I struck if fairly hard a couple times but 'tap' wasn't enough - I had to really strike it hard like I was almost trying to break it. (I was slamming it with buttons facing up, back on desk hitting buttons with the wood handle as if I was trying to break it almost. It finally went on! We will see if it goes wrong again in weeks ahead.

OMG - Banging really does sorta work!!!
I was skeptical, like the rest of you, but what else could I do. I tried all combos mentioned of pressing buttons, plugging in USB - nada.
I banged a few times on the desk and hurt my hand. Nothing.
I used a metal bottle of lotion and banged a few times hard-ish - nothing. Tried again. Tried a third set of bangs. Still nothing.
My husband thinks I'm nuts at this point.
I then read the post of the Hydroflask and thought I got one of those. I used it on a countertop, with the control buttons facing down and banged HARD three times. I mean pretty hard I banged it with a heavy Hydroflask.
My husband said that's enough - you're crazy. BUT IT WORKED - I GOT THE FLASHING BLUE AND RED LIGHTS and quickly got my phone and paired.

The only issue is the controls don't work (volume, forward, rewind, pause, turn off, etc) but at least they are playing music... That's something...
