JBL Xtreme3 won't Power Up - Solved

This question relates to connecting a JBL Extreme 3 BUY NOW to Any device BUY NOW

Unit went dead one day, no lights, wouldn't power up. After much troubleshooting, it was found it could power up if an external USB power supply is connected to the Micro USB service port.
I eventually tracked the problem down to an open choke, L103, a SMD.

Unfortunately, when I contacted JBL for service info and parts, they informed me they weren't available. When I inquired where the warranty depots get their parts and schematics, I was told they don't repair them under warranty, just exchange with a new unit; this I found hard to believe. After paying $300.00 or so for a speaker that only lasted for a year and a half or so,
I don't think I would ever buy another product with such poor after sale support.

I was able to find some schematics on the net that were close enough to my version to aid in troubleshooting.
