Lost connection

I've been having to restart my phone to get a true connection. If I'm listening and am interrupted by a message or other notification, I will hear that through the headphones but then about every 4 or 5 times the headphones will fail to continue with my book or music. It will show that it's connected but I get no sound through headphones or phone. I've used this brand of head phones for over 5 years and never had this issue until the last month when I got a new phone
