Hi. I need to use this device in a convertible car, so it has to be loud.

If I adjust the volume on the speaker or the iPhone to over 50%, the speaker powers down. The same thing happens when connected to an iPod.

Do I have a defective speaker, or is this some safety thing to prevent us from listening to music too loud?

Thanks, Greg

Is it just this device that it occurs with? If you pair something else is it the same ?

Behavior has been verified with an iPhone and an iPod. Plus I tried another speaker and it works fine. I appreciate the replies, but it looks like no one has an answer. My worry is now OBE, because I have decided to trash the speaker. I will not be pursuing this thread. Thanks to all who tried to help.
