Not every Bluetooth device can pair with every other Bluetooth device

Remember, not every Bluetooth device can pair with every other Bluetooth device.

You can’t expect a digital camera with Bluetooth support that can connect to computers to also find and pair with a Bluetooth mouse as the camera will not have the required internal software support to display and run a mouse pointer.

Whilst the above example may be fairly obvious sometimes it’s not so clear.  For example, some smart phones may allow you to control them via a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard,  whilst others (even of the same mobile operating system) may not.  Check with both products in question to verify what kinds of device they can connect with.

Within the technical specification documentation of a device details about what it can pair with me be referred to as “supported Bluetooth profiles”.
